Los Angeles Construction Boot Camp
September-October 2016
“Providing the right tools for contractor success”
Skanska USA invites local construction contractors to apply to attend an 8-week construction boot camp. Classes will be held every Thursday 6pm to 8pm.
Class Topics Include:
- DBE certification & qualifications
- DBE Commercially Useful Function
- Metro’s Project Labor Agreement (PLA)
- Certified Payroll Reporting (LCP Tracker)
- Access to capital, bonding & insurance
- How to respond to an invitation to bid
- Safety: Fostering a culture of safety & OSHA regulations
- Accounting: invoices, lien waivers
- Understanding the prime contract and flow down requirements
- Submittals, RFI’s and scheduling
To graduate the boot camp you must attend 6 of the 7 class dates below:
Class Dates:
September 8, 15, 22 & 29
October 6, 13 & 20
Graduation dinner is October 27
Encouraged to apply are:
- Certified DBE, SBE and non-certified local Los Angeles County firms
- Contractors with a CA contractors license
- Contractors eager to learn about what is involved working on public works and/or Metro projects
- Contractors not afraid of assigned homework
- Contractors looking for networking opportunities with key Skanska managers
